Meet your Psychologist
Hello, my name is Barbara Hill and I am a registered psychologist. My own journey of life has led me towards a lifestyle focus in my approach to my practice as a psychologist. Physical factors such as sleep, exercise, stress, diet, illness and demands of modern life all impact on our ability to function well. I enjoy helping people to explore how they can work toward improving their mental health, by exploring lifestyle factors that are known to impact both our physical and mental health. As a psychologist, I can help you explore the changes you would like to achieve in therapy and offer referrals to other health professionals for specific dietary, exercise and medical consultation, which may compliment your therapy process.
I also have a strong passion for supporting parents and carers in their journey of raising children. It can be a very rewarding, and also challenging journey. Safe and secure early attachments are crucial for young children to grow and develop into resilient children and adults. My goal is to help you identify how you can build strong connections with your children and understand some of the more challenging behaviours that sometimes (or often) make life tough for families. I also enjoy working with children to support them with some of the challenges they may face in friendships, school and family life. When I work with children, I also expect that parents will engage in the process to create a team approach to supporting their children in between sessions and into the future.
Therapy
Change is a constant and normal part of life. We all face daily changes and challenges, some seem easy, while others may seem overwhelming and keep us stuck.
Therapy offers a space to navigate those tough changes, helping you learn, grow, and move forward. The process of therapy is just one part of the journey. Meaningful change often happens in the moments between sessions—when you begin to apply new skills, shift perspectives, and take small, steady steps forward.
Therapy services are available to adults of all ages and children from age 8. Children under 8 may be suitable for play based therapy or benefit from parents/carers engaging in parenting skills sessions.
Assessment
Every person is uniquely shaped by their early development, attachments and life experiences. The assessment process can help you to understand your own or your child’s individual strengths and opportunities for growth.
As each assessment and report will be as unique as the individual, contact us to chat about the purpose, process and costs of your assessment.
